By Brenda K. Starr is no Mariah Carey but she is undoubtedly the better singer of this track. Her video was better and the vocals delivered on a higher level. Mariah is a legend, but Brenda is the bigger legend of this track. It came out in the 1980s and Mariah covered it in the 1990s.
Mariah seems to have covered and sampled just about everything so her chops can sometimes be a bit dated. But Brenda, maybe a one hit wonder, and known for mostly this song is an awesome singer and her girl next door image in the music video really helped her score with this song. Big up!
