By Howie Dorough is what I like to call a back-bencher. Sure, in the Backstreet Boys he got a lot of solos but he doesn’t make an impact. It’s like the older he gets and the longer Backstreet Boys clamour for some success as a group post-2001 they less relevant he remains. At least ‘NSYNC has the common sense to know that they time in the spotlight is over but BSB persist.
Howie D., like Kevin Richardson can’t match the spotlight seen on the other three and while they are the biggest selling boy band of all time Howie and the boys won’t give it a permanent break. They’re like fifth class citizens in the industry now.
Chris Kirkpatrick is smart. He’s laid pretty low key since 2002 and has kept well for himself making solo appearances and having mini-reunions with Joey and Lance all over the place with Justin Timberlake maintaining his stature as a megastar in solo spotlight. Chris is a dad, with a hot wife and kids of his own and is smart to reunite instead of prolonging ‘NSYNC like the Backstreet Boys do.
It’s smart, especially with Justin Timberlake starting to fade. His last album mega-flopped and last year got got arrested for driving drunk. Chris and the others have avoided all that and that’s why Chris’ counterpart, Howie D. has failed to learn.
