Johnny Gill V Bobby Brown

I was never a New Edition fan and Bobby Brown being replaced by Johnny Gill was never something on my mind. But Bobby Brown was surprisingly known by my parents who are 1980s parents so they knew as that was the decade of their parenthood. Johnny Gill is undeniably the best boy band singer for decades and he would wear that crown until JC Chasez of ‘NSYNC came about in the late 1990s.

Gill had a raspy voice and yes so did Bobby Brown but Brown was raunchy, too sexually charged and it defined him. Gill was talented and sexy and he used that to channel him beyond New Edition, to who he was a star prior. Brown was a one off thing and never reached solo stardom beyond his first album even with more hits.
